Biography
SAAM S.A. was founded in the port of Valparaiso, on November 151 1961. Its first activities were oriented to the shipping agency, stevedoring, port equipment and tugboats, mainly for CSAV Shipping Company, her mother Company.
In 2001, after entering different south American countries, the certification under the international standard ISO 9001 of its business processes began, starting both with its tugboat service and agency work.
During the first half of 2016 and, in its commitment to safety compliance, SAAM S.A. tugboats division began the ISM certification on a voluntary basis in part of its fleet.
Today, with more than 200 tugboats operating in 12 countries, SAAM Towage is the largest operator of towing services in the Americas.
SAAM Towage is one of two divisions of the SAAM’s Group, a multinational conglomerate employing over 2,500 people. It is listed on Chile’s Santiago Exchange and is part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index MILA, offering to the market, safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
